Encephalitis, Acute
General: In approximately 0.1% to 0.2% of patients having rub 444i87e eola (measles), an acute encephalitis is seen within 1 week after the onset of the rash; a case of immunosuppressive encephalitis can present with focal seizures leading to progressive obtundation.
Ocular: Papillitis; optic atrophy; ocular motor palsies; nystagmus; optic neuritis or neuroretinitis.
Clinical: Rise in temperature; drowsiness; irritability; meningismus; vomiting and headache; stupor; convulsions; coma.
