Plague (Bubonic Plague; Pneumonic Plague) 9
General: Infectious disease of animals (principally wild anim 555e41f als and rodents) that is transmitted through the bite of infected ectoparasites; causative agent is Yersinia pestis.
Ocular: Inflammatory infiltrate of lids; subconjunctival hemorrhages; chemosis; staphyloma of sclera; keratitis; corneal abscess; iridocyclitis; choroiditis.
Clinical: Abrupt onset; chills; fever; rapid, thready pulse; painful, enlarged lymph nodes in bubonic plaque; headache and productive cough in pneumonic plaque; meningitis; occasional patients infected with Y. pestis become septic and die with bacteremia without developing any detectable lymphadenitis (septicemic plague).
